Get your Facebook Page ready for Social Relay
Facebook does not let any app post to a personal profile. Only to a Page. That is Facebook’s rule rather than ours, and it applies to every tool that posts on your behalf.
Two things have to be true before Facebook will hand your Page to Social Relay:
- the Page exists — free, about three minutes;
- you are on it with full control — usually already true, and quick to check.
The second one catches almost everybody. Owning a Page and being allowed to let an app use it are two different things to Facebook, and if your name is not on it properly Facebook hides the Page from us completely — so it looks as though you have not got one at all.
A Page is separate from your personal profile: your friends list, your photos and your own posts are untouched, nobody is told the Page is yours unless you tell them, and you can delete it later without affecting your account.
Do this on a computer or a tablet if you can. Page settings are far easier to find in a browser than in the phone app. Already have a Page and know you are its admin? Skip to step 4.
