Video, explained.
Everything worth knowing before you hit upload, and after.
What happens when I post a video?
Upload it once. Social Relay sends it to Instagram as a Reel, and to Facebook and LinkedIn as a video. If your website's connected, the article gets it too, once Facebook has finished with it.
Is it included?
4 videos a month come with the paid plan. Need more? 20 for AU$19, one payment, and they never expire.
What's the limit?
3 minutes or 300MB, whichever comes first. That's Instagram's ceiling, so if it fits here it fits everywhere. We check in your browser before anything uploads, so you never wait five minutes to be told no.
Why is it slower than a photo?
A photo goes in seconds. With a video, Instagram can take up to five minutes to digest it after it arrives. You don't have to watch. Close the app, put the kettle on, and each post shows how far it got.
A platform refused it. Now what?
Press Try again. It's the easiest fix, so start there.
Check it's under 3 minutes and 300MB.
Still no luck? Reconnect that platform. The email we sent links to the right guide.
Where does the file go?
On our own server, not some video company's. It's deleted 7 days after it's posted everywhere, by which time Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn have their own copies. We keep the thumbnail.
Can I trim it or add captions?
No. Social Relay posts videos, it doesn't edit them. Get it how you want it on your phone first.
Photos and a video in one post?
No, one or the other. A Reel can't sit in a carousel, and LinkedIn won't mix them. Their rules, not ours.
